What's New

•   The Jail Industries Board (JIB) recently moved its office and operations to the Washington State Correctional Industries (CI) Headquarters in Tumwater.  This move coincides with the development of a contract between the JIB and the State Department of Corrections that will provide the JIB with administrative services and office space at a reduced cost to the taxpayers.  The move also strategically places the JIB's Executive Director in a position to more easily develop partnerships with CI that benefit local jails and puts more jail inmates to work.  Watch for future news regarding these new partnerships!

• New Jail Industries Research - The Jail Industries Board sponsored a University of Washington, Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs, Public Service Clinic study of  competition concerns regarding offender labor.  The research, conducted by Erin Campbell Henderson, is entitled: Jail Industries, Labor Unions, and Business: Competitive Realities in Washington State
